Episode 159: Thanksgiving Special 2024
Brandon Schoen:
So be grateful for that and just be grateful for anything hard that happened this year because it can only go up from there and onward and upwards. As I always tell Brandon, right. Whenever we have something all hard, go. So, yeah, no.
Brandon Condrey:
And there's a lesson in every sort of hardship. And so being able to be thankful for the bad things that happen to you is like on another level of self realization. But it's true, like if you look at all of it, there's always some benefit to come out of it.
Announcer:
Grow your cleaning business, make more money, have more time. This is the Profit Cleaners Podcast with your hosts, Brandon Condrey and Brandon Schoen.
Hey, everybody. Welcome back to another episode of the Profit Cleaners. And Happy Thanksgiving, everybody. We're really, really grateful to be here with you. And it's just kind of a fun episode we're recording today.
So we got Brandon Condrey in the house. Brandon Shane, I'm your host. And as always, guys, Learning from the top 1% to take it to the next level and win. And just wanted to share a quick episode with you guys and say Happy Thanksgiving. We're launching this on Thanksgiving, so you guys are probably gathering around with your family or friends and getting ready to have some awesome Thanksgiving traditions.
But yeah, we're just going to share with you guys a few things. Few thoughts we had on gratitude, and first of all, just want to say thank you guys, each and every one of you listening to this podcast for the opportunity to help you guys grow your cleaning business. As always, it's been a blast on the journey. Brandon, would you say it's been a lot of fun so far and we're grateful for everyone listening.
Yeah, it's been a wild ride. The podcast has been fun to record, but the community behind the podcast, if you guys ever buy the course, like the mastermind stuff, there's a lot more things going on back there. But yeah, every time we have an interaction with one of you, we learn something. Like I learned just the other day on the Facebook group about a fishing pole strap that apparently makes the teams very, very happy because you use it to strap all the brooms and mop handles and stuff together.
And I was like, that's a good idea. So that might be something that we get in there. So I am grateful for learning from you guys and grateful that you trust us with your business to help your livelihood. And that's a big responsibility and we don't take it lightly. Yeah, absolutely, guys. It's really true. Like when we started doing this podcast years ago, we didn't know if anyone was listening, but then you guys started reaching out and saying, hey, this changed my life.
This saved my family's business. So we really are grateful to be able to share this knowledge with you. It feels kind of funny sometimes because we're just talking about our business and what we're doing, but it really does make an impact. And like Brandon said, we learn just as much as you guys do, especially in the mastermind. And we always mention that quote by jfk, but it's a rising tide, raises all ships.
And the reason we're in this together is you can always get better, you can always be learning, and you can always improve. So just remember, you know, this time of year, owning a cleaning business is something truly to be grateful for. It's a huge responsibility. You are serving people in your community. Whether you think that it's serving or not. It's a dirty job. But, you know, you are really changing people's lives and you're giving them their time back to be spending time with their family, with their kids, with doing something that's more important.
Right. And so it's a true gift that you're able to serve your community with. So during this time of year, we just want to reflect with you guys on how powerful that is and how we should all be grateful to be in business. Right? To be making an impact, generating goodwill, reciprocity in your community. And I just wanted to share, like, from the very beginning, I've talked about putting a purpose in your business.
Like a mission. A purpose. We started out doing cancer cleans, the UNM hospital in our community. And we now have people nominate people that we can help in the community and do cleans for. But I remember in the early days, and Brandon, you probably have some awesome stories too, but people that we were doing the cancer cleaning with and just helping them out, I remember stopping by some of those houses and a few families specifically were just super, super grateful.
I mean, some of them gave me hugs. One of them cried on my shoulder and was like, you don't understand how much this means to us. Thank you so much. And it really is changing people's lives. Like, as simple as it sounds, guys, we're cleaning. You're really definitely impacting people on a whole nother level. That is sometimes not easy to see because you guys are in the weed in the business all day.
But yeah, that was just a powerful story. I'll never forget that moment. And I'm sure Brandon has some moments like that too. Yeah, I mean, since we switched to the cleaning to care thing instead of directly partnering with the hospital, like Covid kind of killed the direct cancer cleans through an institution. But we have people just nominate. And I've been able to use that even for a couple friends.
Like a friend of mine from college that I hadn't talked to in years reached out to ask how much it was to get a house cleaned because their mom had died and they were having like a wake at their house and they just wanted to get it cleaned up and we just gave that to them. So that's something that you're in a position to do as a business owner.
So like, yeah, we'll just come over and do it. And you know, that was like $500 service that we would have charged. But they're a friend of mine, we have set aside capacity for these things and so we just did it. And then even this week, I had a friend reach out to ask about how much it cost because their mom was going through some severe medical issues and the doctors just couldn't figure out, you know, out what the problem was, period.
And so we put them on the cleaning to care rotation too, because we were just having a couple people come out of their three month routine. And I was like, well, you're up next. And they were kind of blown away that I was giving it to them for free. I'm like, this is what we do. This is part of our gift. You know, like this is part of the strategy of the company is to give something back to people who can't afford it.
And so they're going to go for the three months and then the three siblings will split the cost of just keeping it going until she's feeling better. Which yeah, I'm. I'm very grateful to be able to do those types of things when people need it. And we wouldn't be in that position unless we had this successful company. And even though growing the company in the early days was highly stressful and you don't know if this was a stupid mistake cause there's no money coming in in the early days, you're in a unique position to be able to do these things.
So like just being grateful for owning a business, period, for sort of controlling your own destiny, I think is something to take into account too. Even if this has been a hard year for you, would you trade it in to go have a boss leaning over your shoulder asking why you're looking at your phone instead of typing something like, I don't think I'll ever Go back. I think I would make a terrible employee at this point.
Not only do you not know the best tactics for your, but it's also all too easy to waste money and get zero results. Once we started working with Tidy youy Sales, all of this changed. We saved time on following up with customers so we can close more leads. We now have total control of our marketing system so we know 100% what's working for our market. And best of all, the team at Tidy youy Sales is incredibly knowledgeable and they'll work with you one to one to show you what works so you get results fast.

I'm definitely a terrible employee and that's very true, man. Like, if you just. Guys are thinking like, hey, it's Thanksgiving, what are you focusing on? First of all, there's so many things you can be thankful for. I just want to remind you guys, we're all alive here.
If you're listening to the podcast, you can hear you probably have decent health, you have family, have friends and you have a business. If you're in business in the United States or in some other country, but you're probably in the United States or Canada, and regardless, you're in business, it's amazing. Like, you are already moving towards, you know, a different stage of there's Robert Kiyosaki's, you know, Wealth Square, where you go from employee to self employed to business owner or investor.
So if you're already owning a business, you're already a business owner, you're already on the other side of the cash flow quadrant, right? And you're already making a huge, huge leap in the right direction for being more in control of your life. Right? Owning a business is a huge responsibility. It's very stressful. It's the hardest thing you'll ever do in your life being an entrepreneur. But it's going to make you better, right?
And if you go on, like Brandon said, if you're like, this was a hard year, be grateful for the hardships, be grateful for the challenges. They make you better and they make you stronger. And there's a reason, you know, everything happens for you, not to you. So just take that and help that project into the next year and really like, take a stance of like, hey, this was hard this year or whatever wins you had this year, don't Sell, celebrate the wins for too long, just keep going.
Be grateful that you're in business and be grateful for all the great things you can do to create opportunities, more jobs, you can serve more people in the community. And that shouldn't be a selfish thing at all. You know, wanting to grow your cleaning business is an amazing thing because the more you grow, the more people you serve, the more people you employ, the more opportunities you create.
So it should be a very, very worthy, ideal, worthy dream and vision that you have to grow this business and continue growing it and scaling it because you're going to help even more people. So be grateful for that and just be grateful for anything hard that happened this year because it can only go up from there and onward and upwards. As I always tell Brandon, right? Whenever we have something all hard, go.
So yeah, no, and there's a lesson in every sort of hardship. And so being able to be thankful for the bad things that happen to you is like on another level of self realization. But it's true, like if you look at all of it, there's always some benefit to come out of it. Like for instance, I have H Vac guys in my house right now, which is why I'm recording this in the garage.
And so my voice probably sounds different. My background's definitely different. What they were supposed to install one thing, they got up in the roof, couldn't do it. We're going to have to move it to the other side. And that was kind of a bummer. But as a result, we ended up getting a second sort of heating cooling unit at cost because they realized it was their fault for this screw up.
And so they're going to add a second unit on. And so, yep, it's a bummer that my ceiling in my living room looks like Swiss cheese right now. But we have double the heating capacity that we were supposed to get out of the thing. And so there's a little bit of gratefulness in that. And you know, I recently had heart surgery and so I'm very grateful for modern medicine and whoever figured out ablation, which is a crazy procedure, but it works, which is nice.
And so there's lots of stuff to be grateful for. Yeah, so many things to be grateful for. I'm grateful for my new baby daughter, she's four months old. I'm grateful for all the growth we've had in our business this year. And so the more you guys focus, focus on what you're grateful for, the more that expands, right? Your thoughts become things and whatever you focus on Expands. So don't dwell on the past.
Don't dwell on things you don't have. Focus on what you do have. Focus on the business you're creating. Focus on and visualize what you want it to become. And that will expand that vision. Those thoughts will expand. So as we go into 2025, I just want to encourage you guys, learn from your mistakes, learn from other people's mistakes. It's always better to learn from others. But as you go into 2025, cast a big vision for your life, for your business, where you're going.
Get excited. Something that should really get you excited to take action and hold that vision. Right. Sometimes we get stuck in the weeds in our business and we forget to remember the vision. But that's the reason why you're doing this. If it's for more freedom, if it's more time, if it's more time with your kids, your family, just getting out of the business, stopping, doing all the cleaning all the time, and actually build a true business that can run without you.
Right? So focus on where you want to go in 2025. Be grateful for where you're at. Everything that's happened this year, it's all happened for you, not to you. And find the reason and just keep going. So just want to leave you guys with that. We don't have any Black Friday Thanksgiving specials this year that I know of, but we might end up doing something last minute. So if you guys join the email list, join the Facebook group, if we do anything like that, we'll share it in there.
But for the most part, I just wanted to celebrate Thanksgiving today and gratitude and thank you guys for being here. Thank you guys, each and every one of you, for contributing to the group, the podcast, sending in ideas and just giving us the inspiration for us to keep going because we know it's changing your lives and it's definitely changed our lives as business. So I guess we'll leave them with that.
Brandon, you want to leave them with just what else we need them to do to help out on the Thanksgiving podcast? Branding. Yeah. I mean, you can leave us a rating anywhere if you haven't done that already. If you're getting value out of the podcast, that's the way to do it. And then if you would like to work with us more like the course that we sell, the Masterclass, you can learn more about that@profitcleaners.com
masterclass. Yeah. Otherwise, just try and be appreciative of the position you have in life, even if it's not right where you want to be. That's exactly where you need to be because that's a stepping stone to get to the end. But you got to have that vision for next year to figure out where you're going to land. And you know, it's a fun ride. It's a stressful ride, but it is cool.
Yeah, it's never going to be done, guys. So focus on improving yourself. Focus on investing in yourself. Nobody can ever take that away from you. So. And just real quick to close it out. Quote by Jim Rohn Be happy with what you have while in pursuit of what you want. So it's never going to be perfect. But hold your vision high, know what you want. Keep going after your dreams, guys, and be thankful and happy where you're at right now while in pursuit of everything that you want in the future.
So we'll leave you guys with that. Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you guys for being here. Yeah, Happy Thanksgiving. Keep it clean, guys. Thanks for joining us today.
