Episode 99: Can You Be My Mentor?

Like any good mentor I've had, they never gave me anything for free either because they value their knowledge and they value their time and they know that they were doing me a favor. Just like we know we're doing you a favor by charging something for this because it is super valuable, it is gonna change your business. And like Brandon said, it's not for everyone. But if you are serious about growing your business and you're gonna invest in yourself and in your business, well then you are putting your life on the line. You're putting that accountability out there that you're gonna get it done. And that's what we're holding you accountable to do. If you got something for free while you're not gonna value it. So we're gonna hold you accountable to your own success.

I am Brandon Shane, your host, and I'm joined by my amazing co-host, Brandon Condrey in the house. That's me. I'm here, Brandon is here. And guys, together we're the Profit Cleaners. We are sharing with you real world, real talk, real knowledge about our business, our cleaning business,

and taking all the steps and everything that we've learned, sharing it with you guys, sharing our wins, sharing our losses. So that's what this show's all about. If you haven't listened to the Profit Cleaners before, guys, welcome to the show. And guys today in this episode we wanted to just go over a question that we get all the time.

People are always asking us on social media emailing us and we just wanted to answer this question for you, which is, can you be my mentor? And I think we want, we have some cool concepts, kind of a cool metaphor to share with you guys, but let's dive into it. Brandon, can we be people's mentors and teach 'em how to clean and teach 'em how to grow a business like ours?

I guess that's the bigger question. Yes. But maybe not in the sense that everyone who's asking is thinking. Right? We know we've talked about Corby in the past and how, you know, Corby was our mentor for sure and got us going definitely. And I think we recorded a couple podcasts to that effect about how you should go out and seek to do the same.

And then people did by asking us if we would do it. So you know, I guess that was y. Yeah, we, we told you to do that. So good, good for you for asking. Yeah. So yeah, we could be your mentor. It's just not in the, I'm gonna call you every week to talk about things and kind of really guide you through the process,

which is how we did it and something that people maybe forget. The way that we had set it up with Corby in Colorado was Corby didn't do that out of the kindness of his heart cuz we sent him an Amazon Alexa in the, in the mail we had a consulting agreement. So yes, Corby mentor, but also we paid for that and we paid quite a lot for it.

So yes, that was our situation and so we are kind of flipping the script on you guys and the way really to do that, the way that we best know how to do that is through the courses that already exist, Right? And just like we talked about one of the earlier, early episodes of the podcast, I think it was like Anthony Robbins or one of the quotes we shared was like,

if you want to have the same success as someone else, like just like you wanna have success, follow in the footsteps of someone that's already done what you wanna do, right? Find someone that's done the success, that has the success. And in fact, that's like something that I live by. Like I don't like listening to people that give me advice like business or personal advice unless they have that in their life.

Like why would you listen to somebody that hasn't done it, that isn't doing it right? So I think to answer that question is absolutely, like that's the whole point of the podcast, that's the whole point of everything we're doing. The whole mission of Profit Cleaners is to at least create a hundred new cleaning business owners that hit the seven figure mark. And there's no timeline on that,

but that's our goal. Like that's the whole mission behind Profit Cleaners. So can we personally physically be with a hundred different people at all at once? Probably not. But what's really amazing is we live in this amazing technology world, whether it's, sometimes it makes things worse, sometimes it makes things really good, the technology. But as far as learning and as far as the knowledge revolution that's going on with schools and everything crumbling and everything going that the by the wayside,

I think this is the future. This is how people are going to be learning in the future. It's kind of like the pendulum swinging from in the past if you wanted to learn something, you found somebody that was doing it and you found the best person that was learn that skill and learn that trade and you would go mentor with them, you would go be an apprentice.

Yeah, apprentice. Yeah. App apprenticeship was huge. Apprenticeship, right? And that's how people learned and and then it went to the school system where you were just kind of getting this theory and and learning from people but, or maybe more just theoretical type things. But I think we're getting back to, especially in this time of history, if you wanna learn something,

we live in the most amazing world where you can just go find it and you can find, and a lot of it you can find on on the internet and we'll talk about, there's pros and cons of that too. But what we're doing here guys, is we're creating a very distilled down version of this knowledge for you guys in our courses, in our content,

even on these podcasts. But that's the point is, is we can be your mentor, it's just gonna look a little differently maybe than maybe it has a hundred years ago or working sometimes with you one-on-one. But we are creating an environment where this can all happen. We deal, we still work with people one-on-one all the time on the back end of our courses.

And yeah, I just want to like riff on this a little bit and just talk about how we can help you, how we can be your mentor if you're looking for help, if you're looking for an example to follow, a plan to follow. So let's talk about Isaac Newton for a second, cuz I think that's an interesting metaphor in the story of this. Sure. I'll let you talk about Isaac Newton. Newton found this quote and I like it,

but I I want you to explain it from your, yeah, Okay guys. So we like telling stories, like giving metaphors because it paints a really good picture sometimes and helps people understand. So I heard this quote years ago and it was from one of the guys I learned from that he would say it all the time. And he said, if I have seen further than others,

it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. This quote actually came from Isaac Newton, who is the founding father of some pretty incredible things in our history. If you look back in the 16 hundreds, we didn't have physics yet, we didn't have gravity, we didn't know what calculus was yet because it was an invented, but Isaac Newton, even in this time where people thought the planets were pushed by men in the sky and maybe the earth was flat or all these things that that we've learned over time maybe weren't true,

we've come a long way. But even Isaac Newton himself said, the only reason that I was able to come up with calculus or gravity or physics come up with these concepts was because I stood on the shoulder of giants. That means he had mentors in his life, he had really smart people that he surrounded himself with. And that's another quote. You are the average of the five people you,

you surround yourself with. So who are you surrounding yourself? Who are the mentors? Who are the things, the inputs in your life that are influencing your thoughts and your decisions? And genius does not come from thin air, Isaac Newton, maybe people think he's a genius, but he's even telling us that he is only a genius because he stood on the shoulders of giants.

And it's best to always learn from your mentors. That's the best way to learn. You don't have to recreate the wheel, you don't have to figure it all out on your own. There's nothing new under the sun. It's all been done before guys. So yes, absolutely. Like mentors are the way to go. And yeah, I think that's a cool metaphor.

I don't know why you think Brandon, but I thought, I just love that, that idea. I do think it's a good metaphor. I mean Corby was definitely a giant in the cleaning world and we obviously stood on his shoulders and took what we learned from him and ran with it, which is great. So the question of the podcast is everyone's asking us,

can we be your mentor? I mean the podcast episode sounds like a pitch, a sales pitch to buy our courses. It's not that we're generally trying to answer the question, but realistically we're just two guys and we're not full-time podcasters. We're actually running a seven figure cleaning business in the background as well. So the free time is quite limited. We both have kids,

we're both trying to be good fathers, good family figures and things like that. So really the end result of that is how to duplicate what we know was to put into these courses. And so they're already out there and we've gotten a lot of feedback from people on things that we can approve and we do that. That is the benefit of the sort of online platform that we have with the courses is that it's not a one and done thing like printing a textbook where you have to put out a new addition.

This is constantly updated, you have lifetime access to it. So anything that we learn and change, you will get, you know, in the form of new modules or updated modules or things like that. So the best way for us to mentor people, it's not one-to-one. You take these courses online, we'll teach you marketing, we'll teach you the nuts and bolts of cleaning the actual processes and training materials for that.

And then we've got another course coming out later which we'll give you some more info on as well. But really that's the best way to reach the most people to hit that goal of making 107 figure cleaning businesses, you know, by listening to the podcast and and doing the courses. So that's the best case scenario. There's an added benefit to the courses that I hopefully you people know about,

but like not a lot of people are on them and it's every month we do a live coaching call on Zoom, it's like a webinar and we had a couple months over the summer where nobody was on it, just zero people. And then the last two I think we've had like one, which is really awesome for that one person, that one person gets our undivided attention.

You get the undivided attention of the Profit Cleaners, it's like paying for a one-to-one coaching call but it's free with the course. So yeah, you guys should take advantage of that if you have already bought the course that you, you've already done that. But if you're considering buying it, that is one of the things that comes with it. You get into this Facebook group and we do live coaching calls once a month where you can just ask us whatever.

Yeah, that's huge guys. That's like, you know, maybe we can't do coaching calls with everyone all the time and work with one-to-one, but by getting into the courses you're surrounding yourself and putting yourself in an environment where you're around other successful cleaning business owners, everyone's running the same direction and like Brandon said, we have these coaching calls, that's just what we do every month.

So you can be going through the content and as your questions come up, just put 'em in into the form so we can answer 'em on the live calls or get on the live calls with us and we'll go through it with you.

So it's like it really truly is the best way to work with us and to have us mentor you because you're getting our knowledge distilled down into something that we capture that you can watch over and over again. You can use it to train your teams, you can use it to train your staff, you can review it over and over again just like these podcasts.

But it's even more actionable. It's even more behind the scenes of the systems you're gonna need. And then also, like Brandon said, it's just you do get that interaction, we're there for you guys. We're actually gonna have a lot more time now that cuz we've been working on these courses in this content for like the last year or two. So much that personally I haven't been able to get into the group as much,

but I'm making a commitment that I'm gonna be in there a lot more. We're gonna be helping you guys a lot more. So it is gonna be worth it to have that interaction if you do have questions and like Brandon said, we're always making it better. Like we use that interaction and that engagement with you guys to be like improving the courses all the time.

And so if there's something that we think about, there's something that you need that's not in there, we're adding stuff all the time. So that's the benefit in its lifetime access. Like as we improve, as we get better systems, better marketing, better systems, whatever it is, you guys benefit from that, we all win together. So that's really it.

So yeah, absolutely you can stand on the shoulders of giants if you get a mentor, hopefully you can stand on our shoulders and see past all the, the stuff that you know, if you're out there trying to do this on your own, it's gonna take you so much more time, it's gonna take you so much more energy and you're probably gonna get burned out like just straight up.

I've done lots of businesses personally in the past and every time I have a mentor it happens so much faster, it gets so much more successful, so much more quickly. And you know, like we don't have a lot of time guys, like our time here is finite. So like make your time count, make it worth, it's wild because we're all limited on that time,

you can never get time back. So I think it's totally worth it. And if you're gonna do anything like go all in, do it right, you know, get the knowledge you need. That's how I've always looked at these businesses and especially this business, like when you and I started this Brandon, like we did not know anything about the cleaning business at all,

you know? And so we brought our other skills to the, to the table marketing and sales and some business knowledge, but it just shows you that if you do stand on the shoulders of giants, people that have done what you wanna do have been there before, it saves you so much time, so much stress, so much wasted energy that you could just get all that back by investing in yourself and in your business.

You know, honestly like that's how we're able to do what we're do we do now. Like we, we're not a slave to our business. Like we're able to have a lifestyle too and still run our business because of those systems. So I mean I think that's proof right there, the value. Yeah, so I mean with all that being said,

it's not for everybody. We charge for the courses, you need to be able to pay for that. That payment serves a couple things. One that means that you value the content that we put out and two, you value yourself and are willing to invest in it. We've talked on many podcast episodes in the past about how Brandon and I both have business coaches that are totally unrelated to cleaning.

They're just generally, I don't know, kick ass people to hang out with that will help you troubleshoot through problems regardless of your industry. And those are expensive. I pay, I don't know, 600 something a month. I think Brandon pays close to five and that's every month all the time. And I find those things invaluable. So this is something that you can get in on,

it's a one-time payment, it's not a monthly subscription. And then that gets you access to the coaching calls in the Facebook group and things like that, you know, in perpetuity. So that is our answer to the question, can we mentor you? Yes, you have to pay for it to make sure that we're all on the same level. That there are expectations being met by both sides.

There's some accountability there and you gotta commit if you're not gonna invest in yourself or you're gonna be wishy-washy about it, it's never gonna fly. Like I understand that your business might be brand new and there's just not a lot of funds for that, but we were like that too. I remember getting, we had a call with a another cleaning coach back in the day and I remember getting a quote from that and it was astronomical at the time.

I think it was $8,000, $12,000. There was a hard sell too. It was this much if you bought while we're on this phone and if you hang up at doubles in price, even though obviously the product didn't change at all, that was just a psychological factor, which we don't put onto you. I'd like to point that out. And at the time that was huge,

but now we're doing that number that he wanted for that course in revenue in like, I don't know, six hours on any given day we pull on that much. Do you know what I mean? And so that's kind of where I want you guys, the listeners to get to. It took us five years to get to that point. And I remember having that call when we were,

I don't know, three to six months in. So you know, you gotta weigh these things internally, but we're showing you the path. I mean we're not, this isn't magic, there's no spells involved or prayers or anything like this is actual actionable things that you can do that has our real world evidence behind it as a very successful case study. And we want to have more successful case studies.

Yeah, absolutely. And honestly, guys like any good mentor I've had, they never gave me anything for free either because they value their knowledge and they value their time and they know that they were doing me a favor. Just like we know we're doing you a favor by charging something for this because it is super valuable. It is gonna change your business.

And like Brandon said, it's not for everyone, but if you are serious about growing your business and you're gonna invest in yourself and in your business, well then you are putting your life on the line. You're putting that accountability out there that you're gonna get it done. And that's what we're holding you accountable to do. If you got something for free while you're not gonna value it.

So we're gonna hold you accountable to your own success. And that's the best mentors I've ever had, have always done that for me. And even though it doesn't always feel good at the time, that's what it takes sometimes it, it takes putting your back against the wall being a little bit uncomfortable sometimes to do whatever it takes. And that's what the people in business do that win is they do whatever it takes to win.

And that's what it takes guys. So if it means, you know, hanging out with us, having us mentor you, if you're not there yet, keep listening to the podcast and you'll grow and get into that phase at some point where you can invest in yourself. But just know that, just give yourself a huge reason why to do it. One of my coaches used to say,

light your hair on fire and go make it happen. Like he would just like, yeah, go crazy. You know? And just like, like if you imagine in your mind like, I have to make something happen so that tomorrow like get emotional about it. Like like tomorrow I have to pay a, a doctor's bill for one of my kids that if I don't like,

it's like a life altering type thing. Like if you had something that big to make some money that was gonna push you to make some money, you would do it right? So like make a really big reason why in your mind that you can make this happen and you can find the money. There's always a way to find money to invest in yourself,

but just ask that question like what is it worth? What is it worth to have that success and to finally be where you want to be. And if you don't pull the trigger now you're just gonna wake up tomorrow to the same, the same old, same problems, you know? So make some changes in your life, like choose better decisions and hang around better people.

And that's, those inputs are gonna be what change your outputs and that's gonna give you the results. So yeah, I think that's a good way to end it. Yeah, you Have it guys. I mean it's that simple, honestly. So can we be your mentor? Sure. I mean, not in the way that I think when people ask that question,

they think that we're gonna be like coming into their office every week and high fiving people like it's not like that. But you get to hear our voice on the course a lot and then really I think the value is that coaching call. Jump on there man. Talk to us and ask us questions. Just tell us how you're doing. Tell us that you're stressed out and freaking out about stuff.

We'll talk you down from the ledge and tell you about the time that we were there too and why it turned out okay and it will for you as well. So yeah, keep it clean. Yeah, keep it clean.
